On March 26th, Texas A&M Nuclear Engineering students visited Luminant’s Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant to tour the Control Room Simulator, Spent Fuel Pools, and Turbine Building, led by volunteer members of CPYGN.
CPYGN Vice President Lily Raabe said this after their visit, “I have received a lot of positive feedback from the students, ranging from comments on how accommodating and friendly Comanche Peak personnel were, to enthusiasm about what they were able to see. Several commented on how this tour gave them a new perspective on everything they have spent the past 3.5 years studying as nuclear engineering students, and how the tour made some things they have learned “click.””
Two weeks later on April 9th, out-of-state visitors from the Texas A&M hosted American Nuclear Society (ANS) Conference visited the Control Room Simulator and Unit 1 Turbine Building.
Special thanks to tour guides and/or simulator instructors Lily Raabe, Chris Carver, Cameron Singleton, Cody Lemons, Trent Poynor, Kristina Blackwell, Lauren Neuburger, Coy Rice, Jack Wise, Garry Struble, Carlos Navas, David Goodman, and multiple Security and Radiation Protection personnel who provided exemplary support for the tours.
